Download
* Download Apache 2 from Apache HTTP Server Project Site
* If you need HTTPS support, download “Win32 Binary including OpenSSL 0.9.8r (MSI Installer)” version, e.g. apache_2.2.9-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8h-r2.msi
Install
* Double click to launch msi
* Click Next on welcome screen
* Accept license agreement and click Next
* Click Next on Read This First
* On Server Information dialog, enter:
– Network Domain: my.com
– Server Name: www.my.com
– Administrator’s Email Address: me@my.com
– Checked: for All users, on Port 80, as a Service
– Click Next
* Setup Type: Typical
* On Destination Folder dialog,
– Accept default folder name which is C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\
– Or enter a different destination, e.g. C:\prog\Apache2.2\
– Click Next
* On Ready to Install the Program dialog, click Install
* Click Finish
Simulate www.my.com
* Add to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file
127.0.0.1 localhost www.my.com
* Point browser to http://www.my.com to test Apache2 install. You should see the following message if install is successful
It works!
Uninstall
* Uninstall from Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
