Overview
* Night contacts are also known as:
* Ortho-K: Orthokeratology
* CRT: Corneal Refractive Therapy
Night Contacts
Pros
* No need to wear contacts during day time.
* Great for sports, especially water sports such as swimming.
Cons
* Need to wear every night.
* Need to wear certain hours (9?) every night for best results.
* Can not wear glasses as an alternative, because your eye sights are supposed to have been corrected.
* Requires more eye doctor visits to ensure correct wearing.
* Only selected eye doctors are trained and licensed for night contacts, so they usually cost more.
* Night contacts are more expensive. And usually you need an equally expensive backup pair in case you lose the original lenses.
* Possible scrubbing eyes at sleep causing contacts to fall out (this happened to us).
* No disposable available at this time. So need to clean well to prevent debris buildups over time.
Day Contacts
Pros
* Flexible schedule. You can wear glasses if you don’t feel like wearing contacts.
* Can be disposed daily, weekly, or monthly. So easy to clean.
* Most eye doctors can prescribe day contacts so usually cheaper.
Cons
* Possible lens fall outs during strenuous sport events.
* Possible lens fall outs during water sports (this happened to me).
