Introducing Oracle Fusion Middleware Platform

This is part of 1Z1-102: Oracle Weblogic Server 11g: System Administration I

Describe Oracle Fusion Middleware components

WebLogic Server (WLS)

* Standard based J2EE app server

Metadata Repository (MDS)

Identity and Access Management (OIM & OAM)

* Centralize identity and access management

WebCenter

* Integrate structured as well as un-structured content
* Supports Web 2.0

BI

* View and analyze data from data warehouses and data marts
* Gather data from various sources and to extract, analyze, and report in appropriate formats
* Can be integrated with OIM and SOA

BI Discoverer

Portal (WebCenter to support Web 2.0)

* Web base interface that uses wizards
* Requires databases (MDS and UCM)
* Can use Portal Development Kit (PDK) to extend via programming (PDK is deprecated)

Reports

* Dynamically retrieve, format and publish information in several formats
* Also available via MS Excel

Forms Services

* Created by Oracle Forms Builder
* Can be compiled into run-time services for deployment in JEE environment

SOA Suite

* Enables services to be created, managed, and orchestrated into SOA composite applications

Dev Tools

* Modular IDE for
– UI
– Business logic
– Service composition
– BPM
– Business rules
– BI

Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)

* Provide scalability
* Support web services
* Provide modules to specifically integrate with FMW components

Web Cache

* Runs in web tier
* Speeds up requests for application served by WLS

Oracle Web Services

Oracle Delegated Administration Services

ECM Suite

* Manages enterprise contents such documents, digital assets, scanned images

FMW Management Tools

* WLS Admin Console
* FMW EM
* FMW command line tools
– opmnctl
– wlst
* FMW MBean Browser
* OWSM

Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)

Oracle Coherence

* In-Memory data grid
* Automatically and dynamically partitions data in memory across multiple servers
* Enables continuous data availability and transactional integrity, even in the event of server failure
* Installs with WLS (by default)
* Supports other app servers (WAS, JBoss)

Describe the relationship of WebLogic Server to Fusion Middleware components

Common Installation and Configuration Steps

* Install database if needed
* Create repository using Repository Creation Utility (RCU) if needed
* Install WLS
* Install FMW component, e.g. SOA or OID
* Configure all software

Common Operations

* Run in JEE container such as WLS

Common Administration

* EM oversees all products at a high level
* Each component has its own administration console for finer details
