    Download Windows Server 2008 R2 VHD Image<\/h3><\/span>\n

    * Download all three parts of Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition x64 (Full Install) VHD from here<\/a>:
    \n– WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.part01.exe
    \n– WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.part02.rar
    \n– WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.part03.rar
    \n* Double click WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.part01.exe to extract files into WS2008R2Fullx64Ent<\/em> folder. The WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.vhd<\/em> file will be in the WS2008R2Fullx64Ent\\Virtual Hard Disks<\/em> directory.<\/p>\n

    Convert VHD to VMDK<\/h3><\/span>\n

    * Download winima85.zip<\/em> from here<\/a>.
    \n* Convert VHD to VMDK using WinImage 8.5 following     this post<\/a>. Make sure you choose Create Dynamically Expanding Virtual Hard Disk<\/em> option. Otherwise, the resulting disk is too big (130 GB vs 6 GB) and not<\/strong> usable in my test run.<\/p>\n

    Create New VMware VM<\/h3><\/span>\n

    * Start VMware Player 5
    \n* Select Player > File > New Virtual Machine…<\/em> or hit Ctr-N<\/em>
    \n* Select I will install the operating system later<\/em> and click Next<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    * Select Microsoft Windows<\/em> and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64<\/em>:<\/p>\n

    * Enter virtual machine name and location:<\/p>\n

    * Specify disk capacity:<\/p>\n

    * Power off VM
    \n* Select Edit virtual machine settings<\/em>
    \n* Remove existing hard disk by selecting Hardware > Hard Disk<\/em> and click Rmove<\/em> button.
    \n* Attach converted hard disk by clicking Hardware > Add…<\/em>
    \n* Select Hard Disk<\/em><\/p>\n

    * Select Use an existing virtual disk<\/em><\/p>\n

    * Browse to converted WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.vmdk<\/em>
    \n* Click Finish<\/em><\/p>\n

    Setup Windows Server 2008 R2<\/h3><\/span>\n

    * Start VM.
    \n* Setup Windows Server 2008 R2 following the setup wizard.
    \n* Change Administrator password to Welcome1<\/strong> when prompted.
    \n* Login as administrator and wait for the setup to finish.
    \n* Shutdown VM.<\/p>\n

    Convert to ESXi 5 VM<\/h3><\/span>\n

    * Start VMware vCenter Converter Standalone<\/em>
    \n* Select source type and browse for source virtual machine:<\/p>\n

    * Continue conversion as usual.<\/p>\n

    sysprep<\/h3><\/span>\n

    This needs to be done for each new instance of VM.
